17 Years On... It's Pretty Amazing How The Cast of Titanic Look Now!

It's been 17 years since the Titanic began its doomed journey into an iceberg, while steering like a beautiful swan into box office history.
At the time it was the highest grossing movie ever, cementing Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio as our all-time fave film couple. That's not to mention the classic soundtrack, the amazing visuals and the all-star cast. But 17 years on, where are they now?
With the unearthing of a truly surprising alternative ending recently, it's safe to say the old ship hasn't given up all her secrets yet.
So, without further ado, take a look at where the dearly departed passengers of HMS Titanic ended up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson)

Then: DiCaprio was already a seasoned star when he shot to even more fame as Jack Dawson, the poor chancer who wins tickets for the journey in a poker game and falls for the beautiful Rose.
Now: DiCaprio has starred in countless acclaimed movies: The Departed, Django Unchained, The Aviator, and The Wolf of Wall Street to name but a few. He recently turned down the role of Steve Jobs to take a break from acting.

Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater)

Then: Titanic was Winslet's breakout role, and cemented her status as a sex symbol. Director James Cameron cast her because of a "quality in her face and her eyes." It was definitely the right choice.
Now: Still a total babe, Winslet was the youngest person to achieve six Academy Award nominations, winning one for The Reader. She's currently filming comedy The Dressmaker.

Billy Zane (Caledon 'Cal' Hockley)

Then: Zane played the snotty upper class guy that Rose had the dubious honour of being engaged to.
Now: Zane is busy with several projects, including Darknet, House in The Hamptons and The Dome.

Kathy Bates (Margaret "Molly" Brown)

Then: Bates was already a respected stage and film star prior to Titanic, but her role as the "The Unsinkable" Molly Brown who rallied the lifeboat she was on to go back and look for survivors is one of her most memorable.
Now: Bates is an acting veteran who shows no signs of stopping. She's currently starring as Ethel Darling in American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Ioan Gruffudd (Fifth Officer Harold Lowe)

Then: Welsh heartthrob Gruffudd became a recognizable face internationally after Titanic, in which he played the heroic Harold Lowe, who was the only ship's officer to return with a lifeboat to search for survivors.
Now: Gruffudd has had starring roles in Black Hawk Down, King Arthur, Fantastic Four, and Amazing Grace. He currently plays the lead on ABC's Forever.

Frances Fisher (Ruth DeWitt Bukater)

Then: Clint Eastwood's ex and Broadway star, Fisher played Ruth, Rose's icy mother who was only concerned with marrying her off.
Now: Fisher is set to play Ryan Reynold's mother in the upcoming The Woman in Gold, and stars alongside Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum in You're Not You.

Bernard Hill (Captain Edward John Smith)

Then: Hill was made famous for his portrayal of Yosser Hughes in Boys from the Black Stuff in 1982, before starring in Gandhi and playing Theoden in The Lord of The Rings.
Now: Hill is currently involved in the BBC drama From There to Here, a dramatization of the Manchester Bombings of 1996.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there you have it. It seems that the cast of Titanic have done fairly well, considering they were struck by an iceberg!
